Today a good woman is separated from her loved ones. Cheerful, affable, sympathatic,- old and young alike were at ease in her presence. Though she had lived since the 12th of November, 1836, she was not old in spirit. Young people considered it a privilege to enjoy the hospitality of her home. Mrs. Davis' maiden name was Fannie Harris. She was born in Forsyth county; was first married to Mr. Simeon B. David, with whom she lived happily for a number of years. She had four daughters- Mrs. Lena Pittman of Cave Spring, Mrs. Ella Hagan of Atlanta, Miss Sallie Lowry of Rockmart, and Mrs. Jennie Tant of Austin, Texas. She was married a second time to Mr. Van W. Davis, a well known citizen of Polk county, in 1866. This union was blessed with six children, four of whom remain living- W.H. Davis of Taylorsville, Robert Davis of the U.S. Army, Mrs. J.W. Jolly of Taylorsville, and Mrs. Nell B. Pittman. |
