Mr. W.D. Davidson Dies Near Cass
Was a Good Citizen, Farmer and Mechanic

Mr. W.D. Davidson, a prominent and popular citizen, passed away at his home three miles east of Cassville Wednesday of last week.

He was born January 18th, 1840 in Melrose, Scotland. In 1856 he came to Canada where he lived for several years. From there he came to Evansville, Indiana in 1873 and took out his naturalization papers and from there to Georgia in 1874.

He was married to Miss Rachel Posey, a daughter of the late John Posey of this county. He settled three miles east of Cassville and has lived there every since. His wife died in 1898.

He was a member of the Methodist Church and had been for years. He was a good, honest, straightforward Christian gentleman and he will be greatly missed by all.

He had only been sick about a week or ten days. Had been enjoying fairly good health up to that time when he was taken suddenly ill and never recovered.

Farming was the occupation the greater portion of his life, although he was a harness maker by trade and worked at this trade on his place and did work for the country around.

He is survived by four boys and two girls as follows: John P. Davidson, of Cassville; W.D. Davidson, Jr., of Cassville; Barney Davidson of Washington, D.C.; Andy Davidson, of Atlanta; Mrs. H.B. Richards, of Greely, Ga.; and Mrs. Palmer Withers, of Atlanta.

The funeral services were held from his late residence last Thursday and interment was at Cassville cemetery. The funeral services were very impressive and quite a large crowd was in attendance.
