Mrs. Betty Irene Nichols Cole, 61, of 4402 St, Acworth, (Cobb County), died on Friday, Dec. 11, 1998.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 16, at The Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church with the Rev. Giddings officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Hill Cemetery.

She was born in Cobb County on July 9, 1937 to the late Almon and Hattie Lee Hardin Echols.

She is survived by her husband, Alfred W. Cole, Jr of Acworth; children, Eugene Cole of Cartersville; James Calvin Echols of Marietta, Ray Charles Echols (Emma) of Cartersville, Darrell Cole (Betty) of Lithonia, Ernest Cole (Jennifer) of Cartersville, Alfred W.Cole, III (Vanessa) of Marietta, and Troy Cole of Acworth; sisters, Annie Jean Walker (Willie) of Atlanta and Mary McMickens (John) of Marietta and Frankie Lorene Echols of Chattanooga, Tenn; brother, James J. Echols (Georgia) of Centre, Ala; aunt, Laureen Marchman of Acworth; uncles, Hilliard Echols (Annie Bell) and James Hilton Echols (Fannie Mae), both of Acworth, 17 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Eppinger's Funeral Home. The body will lie in state at the church on Wednesday from noon until the hour of service.

Mack Eppinger and Sons Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.
