James Donald [Don] Chastain, 59, of East Felton Road, Cartersville, died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2000.

Mr. Chastain was born Oct. 9, 1940, in Alto, a son of James Adam Chastain and Zula Chastain, was a member of the Rowland Springs Baptist Church, an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War and was retired from Dobbins Air Force Base.  He was preceded in death by his father, James Adam Chastain.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Sneed Chastain, three sons, James Michael Chastain, Thomas Dwight Chastain and Edward Allen Chastain, all of Cartersville, a daughter-in-law, Rebecca Chastain, grandson, Christopher Reece Chastain, one brother, Gary Michael Chastain of Mableton, his mother, Zula Chastain of Mableton and a niece and nephew.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000 from the Rowland Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe Ringwalt officiating.  Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were Steve Martin, Randy Reece, Bobby Howren, James Walker, Don Blankenship, Randy Carlisle, Mike Wilkey and Lamar Payne. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Young at Heart Sunday School Class at Rowland Springs Baptist Church.

Owen Funeral Home, 12 Collins Drive, Cartersville, was in charge of the arrangements.
