Mr. Warren M. Byars Jr., 76, of Chatsworth died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2000, at Murray County Hospital.

He was born Dec. 28, 1923, in Cartersville, son of the late Warren M. Byars, Sr., and Mary Thacker Byars. He was also preceded in death by a son and a sister.

Mr. Byars was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in World War II.  He was retired from Thompson Weinman Co.

Survivors include his wife, Katherine Hightower Byars of Chatsworth; eight daughters, Judy Byars and Darlene White of Adairsville, Wanda Dover, Sherrie Collins and Vickie Byars, all of Cartersville, Mollie Byars of Atlanta, Hope Byars of Tennessee and Linda Hightower of White; three sons, Tim Byars and Kip Byars, both of Cartersville, and Bryan Jones of Gainesville; four stepchildren, Sheila Rice of Chatsworth, Brenda Teems, Sammy Hightower and William Davis, all of Cartersville; two sisters, Eunice Byars and Barbara Walraven of Cartersville; one brother, Roy Byars of Dallas; 35 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12 in the Parnick Jennings Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Doyle Hatfield and Rev. Frank Bohannon officiating.  Interment will follow in the Stamp Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Ricky Bramlett, Tim Bramlett, David Rice, Marty Hightower and Bryan Forrest.  They are asked to meet at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home.

Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Road, Cartersville, is in charge of the arrangements.
