West Side.

Mrs. Anna Chitwood, of near Cedartown, was called here on last Monday, the 26th, to attend the death bed of her father, Rev. R. B. Brooks.

We are sorry to announce the death of Rev. R. B. Brooks which occurred yesterday, the 31st, at 11 o’clock. His remains will be interred this evening in Oothcaloga cemetery, near Adairsville. The deceased was an aged servant of the Lord; his age was 74 years and ten months, and was ordained to the ministry 46 years ago. He was a just and upright man, always ready to do the will of the Master. He leaves a wife and six children to mourn his death; but why should they mourn when they have the sweet assurance that their loss is his eternal gain.

“Servant of God well done,
Rest from thy loved employ,
The battle fought the victory won—
Enter thy Master’s joy.
The pains of death are past,
Labor and sorrow cease,
And lifes long warfare at last closed—
His soul is found in peace.”
