John Raymond Brooks, 84, of Sopchoppy, Fla., formerly of Cartersville, died Monday, September 17, 1990.

Brooks was born September 12, 1906 in Bartow County, a son of the late Amos Brooks and Mary Jane Bishop Brooks. He was of the Baptist faith and was a self-employed carpenter.

Survivors include his widow, Odessa Woodall Brooks of Sopchoppy, Fla.; two daughters, Louise Nelson of Cartersville, and Delliah Christopher of Atlanta; one brother, Ralph Brooks of Dallas, two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, six nieces, eight nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 21, 1990 at 2 p.m. from the graveside of Oak Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Earl Bruce officiating.

The family will receive friends at the Parnick Jennings Funeral Home after 11 a.m. Thursday. Pallbearers are asked to meet at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Friday. They include John Brooke, Ralph Vaughan, Herman Vaughan, and Felton Vaughan.

The Parnick Jennings Funeral Home of Cartersville is in charge of the arrangements.
