H.R. "Buddy" Brandon, age 86, a resident of Merrill Gardens in Rome, died Saturday morning, Dec. 17, 2005, at a local hospital.

A native of Bartow County, Mr. Brandon was born Dec. 13 1919, the son of Hugh R. and Edith Atwood Brandon. Mr. Brandon had spent the greater part of his life in Rome and was a member of North Broad Baptist Church. Mr. Brandon was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Marine Corp Ribbon and the American Fleet Campaign Ribbon. Prior to his retirement Mr. Brandon was associated with Auto Parts Co. of Rome for many years. He was a member of the Marine Corp League of Rome, the Purple Heart Association, Shanklin-Attaway Post #5, American Legion, and was a member of the Rome Civitan Club for more than 50 years. Mr. Brandon was married on March 16, 1946, to the former Helen Waters who preceded him in death in 1992.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Tim Looney of Memphis, Tenn.; a son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Gwen Brandon, of Douglasville; a granddaughter, Lindsey Looney, of Woodstock; two grandsons, Chris and Sean Brandon, of Atlanta.

Funeral services for H.R. "Buddy" Brandon will be held on Tuesday afternoon, December 20, 2005, at 2 p.m. from the graveside of Stilesboro Methodist Cemetery, Stilesboro, with Shanklin-Attaway Post #5 Honor Guard Chaplain Hartwell Nolan officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot of the Stilesboro Methodist Church Cemetery with Shanklin-Attaway Post #5 Honor Guard conducting military graveside rites.

Member of Post 5 Honor Guard will serve as active pallbearers.

Mr. Brandon will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends this evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

For those attending the funeral services of Mr. Brandon, please meet at the graveside on Tuesday by 1:45 p.m.

Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel has charge of the funeral arrangements.
