Bell, Charles (Sheriff)

Dallas, Tex., March 25 – At Brownwood last night Sheriff Charles Bell, of Brown county, attempted to arrest George Yarber, a former blacksmith of the place. Eight shots were exchanged. Yarber was shot through the heart and died instantly. Sheriff Bell was shot through the lungs and lived an hour.

Sheriff Charles Bell, whose tragic death is related in the above dispatch, was raised in Bartow county but located in Texas about twenty five years ago. He was a half brother of Mrs. John P. Adair, of this city.
