Mrs. Atwood Dead.

Mrs. Sarah Atwood one of the oldest inhabitants of this place died at the advanced age of nearly 83 years at the residence of her son-in-law Mr. Mark Maxwell last Wednesday evening. She was a native of S. C. and moved to this country in 1845. About 50 years ago and before her removal to this place she was left a widow with seven small children, she has lived in this community ever since and has won the esteem and love of all who knew her. She was remarkable for her energy, industry and cheerfulness and was withal an earnest and devoted Christian. She was a member of the Baptist church. Her living children are Mrs. Mark Maxwell of this place, Mrs. Mary Cochran of Euharlee, Mr. Sam Atwood, of S. C., and Mr. Jno. Atwood, of Texas. Her funeral services were conducted by Rev. C. E. W. Dobbs and Rev. J. S. Hillhouse.
