Mrs. Leo Allene Abernathy, 79, of Dogwood Drive, Cartersville, died Thursday, October 16, 2003.

Mrs. Abernathy was born November 8, 1923, in Bartow County, a daughter of the late George Dave Tanner and Lizzie Jones Tanner.

She was of the Primitive Baptist faith and was a retired employee of the Bartow County School System.

Preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Abernathy, she is survived by her daughter Susan Gilmore of Cartersville; four grandchildren, Kielan, Clark, Wesley and Ciara Gilmore; a brother-in-law, Dewitt Abernathy of Cartersville; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Brance Gilmore.

Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 18, 2003, from Macedonia Primitive Baptist Church with the Rev. Abernathy officiating.  Interment will be in the Old Macedonia Cemetery.
