Whereas FERRUBY RUFF, claiming to be a free woman of color, applies to me for registry as such: all persons concerned are hereby notified to file their objections (if any the have) in my office in terms of the statute in such case made and provided, otherwise a certificate of registry will be granted the applicant.  Said Ferruby Ruff is about 38 years old, about 5 feet and 8 inches high, and of dark complexion; was born in this State, lives in Cass county, by occupation a laborer.  Given under my hand and official signature.
