Hymen’s Halter This has been a good season with the preachers and ordinaries, matrimonially speaking. To say that Cupid has been getting in his livest licks would hardly be doing the little rascal justice. Probably the cool weather, the high price of fuel and the contemplated Vennor snow storm all have a tendency to cause this thusness. The mania seems to be contagious and there’s nobody running the disease. Why, our very heart remains in an awful suspense as to the safety of Bruce Thedford, and even Walt Headden. Those boys look serious all over and they never attempt to hide their blushes when the subject of matrimony is broached. All of the widowers and widows, maids and young men seem to have but one aim in life, and that is to give the preacher and ordinary a job. While some one pass around the hat we will grind out notices of a few of the happy occasions that have transpired in our county for the past week or so. |

The Free Press, Cartersville, Georgia There have been several more marriages, but on account of our inability to secure the names, we are not able to notice them. Anyhow, our limited stock of congratulatory spirit has about given out, and if this matrimonial ball keeps up this live rolling, we’ll be compelled to thro up our job. |
