An Old English Gold Coin. While in Adairsville the other day, Dr. Willis exhibited to us a small gold coin dug up in his garden a year or two ago by his wife. On one side, and around the edge of the coin is the inscription of “In memory of the good old days, 1762,” with a shield of English coat-of-arms in the centre. On the reversed side is the inscription, “Georgias III Di Gratious,” with a medallion of the head of the king, as is supposed, in the centre. The coin is supposed to be worth about two dollars. |
