[Continues memories of early Canton residents: Daniel H. Bird, Dr. Samuel W. Thompson, James Jordan (includes mention of his funeral), Rev. Robt. J. Cowart, Henry H. Waters (came from New York in 1838, went to California 3 times in a quest for gold, died “in the autumn of 1870, while on his way to Milledgeville, to look after a mammoth washing machines, which he had sent to the Lunatic Asylum, he was stricken with paralysis on the railroad platform at Macon, and in a short time afterwards left this world of disappointment, toil and care.”)]
