Mrs. Jane Goodwin.

This estimable lady, the wife of our neighbor Goodwin, and a sister of Mr. Elijah Spriggs, is rendering the poor of this county invaluable service in the State of Indiana.  She has left her home, husband, children and friends, all behind in Georgia, and is now engaged in the former State in organizing aid societies and getting up and forwarding provisions and supplies for the poor and destitute people of Bartow county.  A quantity of these provisions have already been received, we learn, and distributed among the needy of this community; doubtless the widows’ wail and orphans’ tear have been made to cease by the opportune reception of these charities.  We trust the regards and prayers of the good and humane will attend Mrs. G. in her mission of mercy, that the people with whom she is sojourning may recognize her mission as a legitimate one, and be constrained to contribute their mite towards relieving the unfortunate and starving poor of the South.  May the angel of mercy shield her from harm, and crown her efforts with success and return her safely to the bosom of her family.
