“Brief Local Items.”

Mr. Elihu W. Chapman, formerly a citizen of this county, died at his home in Paulding County last Saturday and was buried at Raccoon church on Sunday morning.

Capt. R. R. Hargis, of Cass Station, was in the city circulating among his friends Monday. He was one among eight new members of Oak Grove Baptist church who were immersed in the creek near his home Sunday.

Death of Mr. Hudson.

Mrs. W. W. Roberts received a telegram Sunday conveying the sad intelligence of the death of her father, Mr. R. W. Hudson, at his home at Sweetwater, Tenn. Mr. Hudson has been sick for the past three months, and Mrs. Roberts has spent the greater part of that time with him, but came home about two weeks ago, on account of the illness of her little baby. Mr. Hudson was seventy-six years old and his illness began with a stroke of paralysis about three months ago.
